when artists leave with a bang?
this, i think, is probably one of the lousiest ways for an artist to leave an art community~

so the story starts that this artist has joined an art site, new to the particular theme of the art site. after a few pictures, she starts uploading pictures that are meant to be teasers/advertisements to another site (which happens to be pay per view on the artwork). she gets bashed for starting to put more emphasis on advertising her site. but it all explodes when one of her uploaded works gets deleted (i haven't seen it, but from what i've read from some of the comments it went against the uploading rules of the site). she gets extremely upset over this and finally posts a picture announcing her departure from the art site (also attacks the community for being mean/unjust to her and makes herself look like the victim). so of course, everyone is on this person's butt and makes arguments against her. i read the comments and i have come to the conclusion that she is a slutty douche (eg making comments like "the majority of you making comments have NO talent and have to jerk off to something you will never obtain" and "i have to make a living too" (since she lost her second part time job...and i think still plays WoW despite that) and "i don't have to jerk off since i already have someone to f*ck"---yah, she actually did say it that crudely). i was appalled with the way this artist was reacting. she did dig her own hole in the first place, and inevitably pinned the blame on the community despite her own actions and even belittled the community, making herself look like a stuck up drama whore/slut.

i have no sympathy for her---absolutely none. she was one of the better artists on the site, but the way she acted and the things she uploaded makes it seemed like she deserved all of it, and more.

if an artist has to make a departure, then they should make a simple announcement like "i will be moving to..." or "i'm sorry but i'm going to stop", something simple and won't cause extreme amounts of drama. not something like "i'm leaving because i hate how you've bashed me *sobs, then throws sarcastic/insulting comments, and advertises all the sites i have*". seriously, the more drama you make when you exit, the worse the impression you leave on people and the more enemies and haters you'll earn. it's not worth it to make the drama. i'm sure that the majority of you have experienced an encounter with such a person before (eg *coughs* certain banned dtaay person *coughs*).

there was also another issue in there about leaving watermarks to prevent theft, though i don't feel it was as much of an issue with her case compared to the use of a free art site to advertise for a pay-to-view art site. watermarks.

tons of people hate having their art stolen and displayed somewhere else. honestly, i don't mind people using my work so long as they don't take the credit for creating it, or use it in a way that is hateful, insulting, etc. ---i would consider it a sort of compliment if someone displayed my art.

but there is one thing that i will utterly butcher people for if they even use it, and those are my pictures on tezu. even the avatar, unless it's for fun (eg cloning lolz x'D). i think i may be overly attached to the character/avatar, but i think that some of you might feel the same way towards a certain character you've created, that you've poured a bit of yourself into. you probably wouldn't like it if someone used your character's image or story for themselves.

-what would your reaction be if someone took your personal character? (eg a character that represents you, has lots of similar characteristics to you, something you've put a lot of effort into creating and thus you're attached to it, etc.)
