so i was sitting back and reading through an rp thread in a gaia guild to catch up with what was going on, and the further on i read the more of a mary sue one of the characters seemed. and for those of you who don't know what a mary sue is, it's basically an overly super popular, super powerful, super talented, super etc. ~ so perfect that it's unnatural. they're also the characters that force you to turn them into the central protagonist in the story, even when they don't have a story for you to play off of. and more often than not, the creators are often retarded and annoy you (are illogical, have an 'i'm better than everyone' or 'things must always go my way' attitude, often contradict themselves, etc.).

so basically she started with a character with these traits and background:
--part flying wolf demon with control of fire, part mythical song bird, part cat demon with control over ice, and part vampire
--has the ability to heal
--lives in the poorer part of the city and lives like a person in poverty
--hates rich people
--was abandoned at 3 years old, raised by a pack of wolves, and became the healer in one city
--physically weak

here are the add-ons that happened throughout the course of the rp from what i've read thus far (i can't remember all of them ^^"):
--usually happens to be in the right place at the right time (shows up wherever the action is and tries to be a main part in it)
--had the 'only' hospital in the downtown area and that hospital was destroyed by evil rich people
--is friends with most of the people in the downtown city and all are demon (even though in the guild the demons are 'supposed' to be in hiding and most of the people around are human)
--somehow became my rpc's savior because she said he was 'meant' to die at one battle (so her character has the ability to 'know' when people are meant to die)
--somehow 'knows' when something is not right with a person
--is the most powerful mixed-demon in the world
--age is over 7k years
--has money hidden in various cities
--constantly has to shop for a new wardrobe
--somehow also has friends in other places and can get along well with the residents
--used to live in a mansion that her parents own, but her parents don't give her any money
--has servants
--tried to separate all the rpc's away from this one guy's rpc so her rpc could travel with his rpc to a different area (cuz..she she has a crush on this guy from what i've analyzed ~ both in rp and ooc). but she especially tried to be mean to my rpc and tried to get him away 'even' when he practically saved both of their lives and would have continued trying to protect them.
--(i have about 7 more pages to catch up on in that rp thread...but i'm sure the list will grow after reading those pages)(there's more---i finished the rest this morning---more illogical stuff to explode your mind~i couldn't help but make comments on these x'D)
--parents gone missing (conveniently) so now she has inherited all the wealth to herself
--servants are pure blood demons (also explaining that mixed breeds are looked down upon by pure bloods...wtf? o_o...servants are pure blood...PURE BLOOD). later introduced two more servants who are based off the twins from ouran, also very PURE BLOOD. (but that's ok cuz the servants love their mutt master anyways OuO)
--servants act like she makes frequent visits back to the estate
--story was she ran away 'after' her brother was killed (and no one bothered to go look for her...mmhmm)
--previously her rpc needed to look for a pure blood demon to form a blood contract with in order to keep her demon council happy (pure blood SERVANTS D8...could have taken with her to get a blood contract done and over with)
--add-on from earlier (i just remembered this x'D): she wants to protect her friends, but she wanted to make a blood contract with a character that wanted to destroy the city with her friends in it (and actually this other character DID destroy that city after the group left). later dumping the idea of blood contracts and getting on with other stuff until my rpc mentions that city-destroying rpc again. (i suspect the whole blood contract thing was spurred so she could be with the guild captain's rpc and he wouldn't be able to shake her off so easily---and i think she had a tiny crush on him at the time)
--servant leading one of the other rpc's to a room with herbs, and suddenly mentions "it's a room that only SHE knows about"...it's super secret (wtf? how does the servant know then?)
--mansion is so ridiculously huge it's got everything...there's even a room with HUNDREDS of dolls in it...(yikes! D; ) .......i forgot what else she had in there...she was listing out a number of expensive type rooms somewhere (how do the four servants take care of this place? D8 you'd need at least 25 people)
--currently deceased brother had given her dolls to show how much he loved his sister (...that's a rich brother...maybe he's a pure blood so he got some of his parents money? or managed to start some sort of job to be a part of the wealthy elite?)
--has a cat that understands what the heck she's saying and even tries to help bring her and the guy's rpc together



..i actually DID attempt to create a mary sue character, intentionally, to annoy the guild captain for lolz x'D. and guess what happened? i failed miserably ~ Dx so it was like the opposite of her character. he starts off as a 'super' mary sue, then more and more flaws and weaknesses kept being added. he even loses everything he worked for after the city was destroyed so he has to work from the little he has in his pockets, and he becomes the most hated rpc in the entire rp.

so this was how i built my character to be a mary sue:
-technologically enhanced so he has super strength, super speed and agility
-was once one of the wealthiest people in the city but was somehow betrayed and ends up in the slums. but he still had a huge portion of his wealth hidden in one of his apartments.

list of weaknesses/flaws....X__________x.......not going to list them out, but i remember i talked it out with two people some weeks ago.....could almost be called a small chapter in a novel. So thus far my rpc has become the one character who has the most weaknesses and flaws out of all of the rpc's in the rp.------i would say that is an epic failure at a mary sue attempt...orz... i dunno, is this called the 'anti-mary sue'? x'DDDD



there was also another mary sue in a different rp i was in recently, with yam yams (and mary sues can also be used to describe a person who creates them...or a person who acts like it). oh heck she was annoying! she has this fushigi yuugi fandom thing going on there so her character is like this princess/goddess person and then she even introduces some other royalty in there. and she creates umpteen different characters. she gets upset when attention gets drawn away from her and she lashes out like a spoiled brat throwing a temper tantrum. so things she's said: you're not my boss, i don't care what you think and only my opinion matters, STFU, etc. and here i am seeing the same shit i've seen in the past where the person attempts to fight against your accusations/suggestions and keeps making themselves look more and more like an idiot or spoiled brat. both hilarious and frustrating at the same time because their heads are unbelievably thick that you could probably smash a brick wall with them.



i have some more normal characters so hopefully that will wash the bad mary sue aftertaste out. so far i'm in two rp's. one rpc is trying to act macho even though he really isn't, and he knows it (also has a normal family and a normal life other than randomly causing trouble and stealing things). and the other rpc is...tezu lolol x'D ~ definitely not perfection there (he acts like a hungry chicken with half of its brain remaining. the dumbest rpc you'll probably encounter x'D).
